This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are increasing their love for learning. Our school is a Title I elementary school. They are striving to learn new skills every single day. My students are trying their best to improve in everything. We work together so that each one of their academic needs is being met. We have become a home away from home.

My Project

The reading resources that I am requesting will reinforce the comprehension skills that are needed to be reinforced on a daily basis throughout all of the subjects. As a lower grade teacher, we teach the entire reading foundation: from phonemic awareness to letter recognition to blending to reading fluency, and finally to comprehension. My students are becoming great readers. We constantly encourage group work to improve reading fluency and comprehension. We all know that two heads are better than one.

By working together in groups or in pairs, my students' understanding of any texts that they have read will greatly improve through the use of comprehension questions printed on the sticky notes and the reading journals.

The donations on this project will be reinforcing their newly acquired reading skills, as well as, the understanding of what is being read.
