Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a veteran Kindergarten teacher in rural North Carolina. I have discovered a wonderful curriculum tool for my students. Starfall books are designed especially for emergent readers. The cut-up and take-home books help reinforce reading and writing skills in the classroom. They also are very colorful and assist my students with the fine motor skill of using scissors. The journals can also be used with the online series as a reinforcement of learning the basic understanding of letter-sound relationship. The dictionaries will help my students increase their vocabulary and remember words for spelling tests. I am requesting 80 Starfall dictionaries, reading and writing journals, take-home, cut-up books, and reading booklets for my students. By funding my proposal, my students will be able to take the information learned on the computer and transfer it to the reading and writing journal while at home.
