My Project

My students are Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners in PreK through 2nd grade. They are bright, curious, and eager to connect with one another, but they face unique challenges when it comes to language development and social-emotional skills. Many of my students are still building foundational communication skills in both American Sign Language (ASL) and English, which can make teamwork, problem-solving, and friendship-building more difficult.

I’m requesting engaging, hands-on games and activities that focus on collaborative play, turn-taking, sequencing, and emotional understanding.

Games like Don’t Break the Ice, Perfections, and Create-A-Burger help children practice working together, following steps in order, and celebrating shared success. A sand and water table will allow for collaborative and imaginative play while building fine motor skills.

These materials will support my students in learning how to play, problem-solve, and cooperate in meaningful ways. By playing together, my students will strengthen not just their vocabulary, but also their confidence, empathy, and friendships.

With your support, my classroom will become a space where children can laugh, learn, and grow together while building the communication and social-emotional skills they need for lifelong success.
