Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Observing is an essential skill that teachers must explicitly teach if we want students to become critical thinkers and problem-solvers. One of the best activities to improve their attention to detail is to sit and discuss genuine artifacts. We need a bus to reach the museum!
My public school tries to offer the best to our kids who come from economically disadvantaged families.
75% of our students are African American alongside with Latin and Asian children. This situation offers unlimited opportunities to learn tolerance and team work while discovering new perspectives. However, our school and our families can't afford the sources we need to support academic knowledge and significantly improve student achievement.
My Project
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art offers a wonderful free class called "Learning to Look." Truly, we need to teach careful observation as it doesn't come naturally to us. This field trip will not only support visual art education, but a crucial skill essential to all disciplines. Students will follow a guide who will help them analyze a few different pieces of art. "Students learn to construct meaning by examining the decisions and visual strategies involved in creating works of art." This practice will strengthen their observation skill which they need when studying a poem or creating an engine.
Your generous gift will enthrall the kids who love field trips.
More importantly, your donation will help them sharpen their eye and develop their critical thinking. You might also be the first one who put them on the path to college! You'll definitely make a difference.
