Learning to Make Positive Choices for Lifelong Success!
My students need a comprehensive and consistent program like Kelso's Choices that will teach them specific and positive ways to handle conflict. This will set a foundation of skills and language needed for life long success.
The students at my schools are smart and engaging. They are creative and kind. They are full of big personalities, big ideas and big emotions.
Along with expressing big emotions, comes a need for learning to recognize and acknowledge those emotions in ways that are safe and won't get students into trouble.
As a "high need/high poverty" school population, many of my students have also experienced trauma. They often struggle with knowing how to handle conflict, relationships issues or frustration in healthy ways.
The Kelso's Choices Conflict Management System will be a total game-changer for all of my students, across grades K-5! Having a shared curriculum will allow for students and staff to have consistent language and expectations that they can build on together year after year. The system allows for students to become familiar with and practice many different positive options for dealing with difficult situations before the need arises. This type of practice empowers students to recognize their own feelings and solve their own problems, building self esteem and self efficacy. A program like Kelso's Choices will set the stage for a safe and calm learning environment and for students to acquire skills that will use for lifelong success.
