This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have a very large multi cultural 6th, 7th and 8th grade group. They kids really love going into the kitchen. There are a few who have learned the basics of the kitchen at home, but the majority of students have no idea how to begin. The best way to convince my students to do anything is to offer them food! So teaching them how to make it themselves is a great challenge (for all of us!), but the rewards are just as great! Teaching our younger generation ways to be successful in everyday life is so critical in today's world! I want to give them the best opportunity to understand these skills as I can. These kids are the future of our world.

My Project

Most students want to learn to cook. Some have an opportunity to learn at home, but most do not. They come to class chomping at the bit to learn how to use their kitchen! It is an exciting time. With learning to cook in middle school comes many oop's along the way. Kitchen tools get worn out, bent, broken and lost. New tools are needed now and then. Now is our time. We just need some updated kitchen tools to keep the learning moving forward. Cookie sheets, muffin pans, measuring spoons, ect. We thank you for any help you can give.
