My Students

My students attend a special education classroom where they are learning life skills to enable them to live productive lives after high school. Each student experiences unique barriers to traditional learning and requires individualized instruction based on their present abilities.

My Project

As an occupational therapist, I see the need for students with disabilities to meet their basic daily needs once they leave public school. Unfortunately, many schools only focus on academic needs during school. Very few students learn how to plan healthy meals, shop for food, and prepare meals. The classroom staff in this special education classroom bring in their personal cooking items to teach these skills, but they are limited to using a microwave at this time. Please help our staff to prepare these students to master these basic living skills.
