My Students

As a teacher in a high poverty school district, I work with students that are faced with challenges in and outside the classroom. Despite the challenges my students face, they persevere. My students are high energy, communicative, and enthusiastic learners. They have a lot of energy and are always looking for a fun way to learn. They love to get involved with the lesson in whatever way possible.

My students love to show off their work and teach their peers.

They are excited to teach each other, both in groups and in front of the class. My students are visual learners. They love to use different resources in the room to show learning strategies to their friends. The students are a great group of mathematicians, scientists, writers, ​and artists.

My Project

During this time of virtual learning it only makes since that the teacher should also learn virtually. I attended Pathfinders last summer and thought it was a wonderful opportunity to learn about coding. I learned a lot about unplugged coding activities and how to integrate coding into over subjects. Even with all that training I am still struggling to teach my students about coding. Attending this summer will allow me to expand my learning on coding and bring new ideas and lesson to my students. I know that everything I learn I will be able to teach my students this fall. With the conference being virtual this year I know I will also learn more about virtual learning and make amazing connections that I will be able to bring back into the classroom.
