My Students
Help us get a job! In September, I will be teaching my students maintenance skills to prepare them for work in the future, but we NEED CLEANING SUPPLIES!
My students are fun loving teenagers with multiple disabilities ranging from physical disabilities, autism, down syndrome to mental retardation.
They LOVE TO LEARN and they do not allow their disabilities to impede their thirst for knowledge and their yearning to be as independent as possible. My students are Hands on learners. Our school is an occupational training center, which means we teach life skills to prepare our students for work and make them as independent as possible when they graduate.
My Project
I will be starting a maintenance program in September, where my students will learn how to clean. These resources will allow me to teach them how to sweep, dust, wash dishes, and mop. My students will be performing these tasks throughout the school to gain experience. These are basic skills my students need to learn to be able to be independent in life. By learning these skills, they will be able to apply it at home as well as in the future, when seeking employment.
By supporting my project, you will be providing a stepping stone to helping bring my students one step closer to independence, in which they will value and use for the rest of their lives.
