My Students

This year, I have a wide variety of students. Some may come from stable households, while others are considered transient or even homeless. The school I teach at has 70%-80% of kids receiving free or reduced lunch and there is almost a 50/50 split of white and Hispanic students. There is even a growing population of kids with a Pacific Islander/Marshallese background at our school. While the culture of learning is high at my school, students come to us with all kinds of needs beyond academic.

I want to spark an enthusiasm for learning that goes with them throughout their lives.

As students are growing up in this "new technology" age, we really strive to give them access to technology resources many of them don't receive at home. While many of them may struggle, I want to provide them the tools and materials needed to be successful in a time where some jobs these students may have, might not even be created yet! Having technology skills are becoming a more important part of everyday​ life.

My Project

I have been borrowing some of these Versatiles from other teachers. The groups I get to use them with always make the other students jealous. I would love to have enough of my own so each student could have their own set. This would help with not spreading as many germs as well! The Hands2Minds Versatiles kits I am requesting will help students to be engaged and be able to use these materials when working in the subject area of math and literacy.

By donating to this project you will be helping my students get individual access to materials to practice essential math AND literacy skills!

This project will help increase student math fluency and allow students to practice skills learned in class and give students access to hands on engaging activities. My students would be very excited to be able to use these items in the classroom.
