My Students
We are a Title I school. 50% of the students are Hispanic and 40% are African American. Our English Language population is about 90 students, consisting of Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Albanian and Urdu to name a few.
Many students come here from other countries without any knowledge or understanding of English.
Unlike elementary school where the content is for beginners, and the native American children learn with the ELL's, in middle school, these children are much older and the content is more difficult. They are good kids that need a chance to be successful.
My Project
A color printer will help students be successful in class. Many English language learners and students with limited means do not have printers at home to type out research projects or homework that needs to be handed in. Many times kids fail classes or are unsuccessful because they give up because they don’t have the resources they need to complete assignments.
In my classroom, this printer will be a resource for all new English language learners and any student that does not have access to a printer outside of the school.
My goal is to help the students be responsible for their own learning and be prepared to ensure success and to help keep high morale in the school.
