Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 5th grade students attend a public school in Chicago. They are full of questions every day and are committed to their learning. They inspire me every day with their perseverance. Even when they struggle, they do not give up and do not hesitate to ask for help.

Despite any hardships they may be enduring outside of the classroom, my students still find it in themselves to put all their effort into their work and come to school with a positive attitude.

My students love learning about all different subjects, diverse cultures, and different strategies they can use in all their academic courses. They also highly enjoy hands-on projects, as well as anything that involves arts and crafts or technology. I feel very lucky to have such a great group. They inspire me every day!

My Project

All of my students enjoy watching educational videos and listening to audiobooks on their Chromebooks during class. However, without headphones this is very difficult. By giving each student their own pair of headphones, they will all be able to engage with engaging media types during class. As technology becomes an even more important part of students' lives, access to headphones has become increasingly important. A speaker will also allow me to show videos during class and keep students engaged.

Along with learning through technology, my students also love to learn through making art.

Markers allow my students to express themselves creatively. My students love assignments and activities that involve coloring or drawing. However, not all of them have access to markers or other art materials. Having a class pack of markers will be helpful in ensuring all students can participate in these art activities that are essential to their learning.
