Learning Through Social Play! Cooking in the Classroom

Help me give my students with special needs a kitchen set with materials to promote learning social skills, life skills, and functional skills.

My Project

I would love to have a dramatic play area in my classroom for my students to be able to explore different types of play and to work on social skills with their classmates. By donating to this project, these items will give my students new centers to use and different themes (flower shop, vet/doctor, sandwich shop, ice cream shop, post office, farmer's market) that I will be able to switch out each month.

I believe that dramatic play is such a good resource to have in a classroom.

It will give them the opportunity to build social skills, vocabulary, and team work. My students will be able to play in the dramatic play area and start expressing themselves more. My students have disabilities like Autism. It is very important for all students but especially students with special needs to learn in their own way. Dramatic play is one way to tie in those social skills but also sensory and academics. I will be so excited to give an additional fun and educational place in our classroom
