Learning Through Reading

My Students

The students attend a small culturally diverse charter school in Southern California. Many of these students face language challenges, economic or family challenges, but they all show up excited and ready to learn. 100% of our students participate in the free and reduced price lunch program and come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of these students are English Learners with limited resources at home to help them thrive.

For many, our school and my classroom are only safe places for these students to explore, make mistakes, and be free as learners.

My Project

Through my project, my students will be able to have books that they will enjoy reading with me. These books will help them discover themselves and enhance their reading ability. With these books, the students will be able to analyze, share, and discuss their reading experience with their classmates. You can provide the materials to empower and nurture the passion for reading in my young students. I hope that through this unique project, my young students can continue the path of discovering and enjoying reading through text and pictures.

In addition, these books are exceptional books that will help students learning about themselves, their community, and become life-long leaders.
