Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help supply my students with books for learning. Our class is a beautiful mix of colors, backgrounds, and personalities! I want to be able to tap in to these differences by providing nonfiction reading materials for them that span the spectrum as colorful as they are! Many of them come from low-income homes and cannot afford to provide the tools needed to have success in the classroom. As a teacher, I want to be able to give my students the best chance at learning and making sure they have access to books that they not only enjoy reading, but can learn from as well. Nonfiction books, magazines, and other types of nonfiction reading materials will help my students become independent thinkers and lifelong readers!
My Project
I am asking for some nonfiction books to stock my class library that will cover the interests of the students. I feel like providing books with their interests in mind will open up a whole world of learning to my students who otherwise may not be able to have these experiences.
I want to show my students that nonfiction texts can be exciting!
I feel like if they have interesting topics to choose from, they will begin to understand the love and benefits of reading nonfiction texts.
