My Project
My 5K students absolutely love our new play-based curriculum called, Tools of the Mind. During literacy centers, small groups of kids get to dramatize, or act out, the stories and fairy tales that they have heard during Story Lab. This helps tremendously with many literacy skills such as, comprehension, story recall and sequence of events.
The props and costumes that I am requesting will make a huge difference in making the stories and chapters come to life for my students!
Imagine reading the Three Little Pigs and then getting to wear a pig headband as you act out the story with the large straw, stick, and brick houses that you help to build with your group. Or wearing a safari vest and using binoculars to spot a giraffe or lion in the African Savannah. It would be so much more meaningful and engaging than just simply hearing the story.
