My students need games and manipulatives to put some fun into learning. With place value blocks, ALL of my students can build and manipulate numbers. We will be able to practice composing and decomposing numbers.
My students wake up every day with a smile on their face and ready to learn, even though many of them have a rough life. I have a fun group of 8 years old who love to learn and explore our world, even though many of them have never had the opportunity to experience other places and cultures. I want to provide as many learning experiences as I can to these eager learners.
My school has a very high level of poverty and this means my students come to me with little to no supplies.
As a low-income school, I often don't access to many materials needed to create a hands-on learning environment. I need to provide most of the supplies and many of the learning materials my students need.
My students need to be exposed to learning through many different experiences. They need to see, feel, and listen to truly understand concepts. I would love to provide them the opportunities that may not available otherwise.
My Project
There is more to learning that paper and pencil activities. Students need to attack learning from every angle and one of those is through the use of games and playing. Playing a BINGO game to learn about place value and the main idea can increase a child's retention.
Learning can be, and should be fun!
By incorporating word family dice games, coin stamps and other fun learning games, we can reach each child and appeal to their different learning styles. Students can demonstrate their skills through fun and exciting activities. They may not even realize they are actually learning something!
