This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a first-year teacher in a self-contained early childhood classroom. We are a Title One school with a diverse population. All of the students in my classroom have autism and are 3-5 years old. The materials on this project have been chosen for a variety of reasons. One of the biggest reasons these materials have been chosen is that learning at this age comes mostly through play. I have a variety of centers that students rotate through, but as a first-year teacher, I’ve seen the importance of keeping centers fresh and interesting, especially as the year progresses and in turn, students' progress. These games and manipulatives encourage exploration, problem-solving, and begins to expose to students to pre-academics- all vital components of pre-k no matter the cognitive level of the students.
