it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I'm so excited to move to sixth grade next year! I've always wanted to help students transition from elementary to middle school, and my experience teaching 7th and 8th grade will help support my students as they start their middle school journeys. One thing that I know is true about younger AND older students is that they love to learn through play, games, and socializing; learning sticks when it's fun!
Your support of this project will help me stock my classroom with a variety of learning-based and problem-solving games like Uno, Bananagrams, Jenga, and SushiGo!
All of these games can serve multiple purposes, from literacy through Bananagrams to critical thinking in Jenga and Yahtzee to community building through jenga (my favorite way to play is to have a question for discussion written on each piece; whoever removes that piece answers the question and guides the group in a discussion of their collective answers!). These skills taken together can help support students' social-emotional as well as academic growth and will help my 6th graders make friends and connections that will support them as they move through middle school.
Also included in this project are basic supplies like disinfectant wipes (COVID restrictions may be over, but I'm still thinking about how to keep my students healthy!) and tissues so students can have their physical needs met in class and focus their attention on learning.
