My Students
My students are African American and Hispanic. They come from very low-income families. Many of my children have not been exposed to many opportunities "extra" activities, such as The Children's Museum, Zoo, etc., things many children take for granted. Many of these children are dealing with traumatic experiences that affect their emotional well-being.
They are enthusiastic and inquisitive.
We do not have a lot of resources for these busy little ones. We could use lots of enrichment activities and resources.
My Project
Preschool is all about hands-on learning. Building fine motor skills to prepare them for kindergarten. Preschool is also about learning to love school. With the right hands-on experiences , children gain a love of learning, all this while thinking they are "just" playing. It is important to be able to share many different ways to reach children. Using many different manipulatives and tools helps to keep children learning and growing. Many of our students have not had the experiences and tools to help them be prepared for kindergarten. It is so important to provide these experiences so they are ready to learn and grow.
