Learning Through Play

My Students

My students are loving and full of energy! They come to class each day ready to learn and are my reasons for loving teaching!

Our school is one of the largest on our island, serving about 850 students.

Our minority enrollment is 94% and about 70% of the school population qualifies for free or reduced lunch. The community and school is ethnically diverse and full of aloha!

Any help you are able to provide will be greatly appreciated!

My Project

Last year, due to COVID-19, my students were unable to return to campus until the end of third quarter and even when they did return, they only came on campus two days a week. This year, my students will be returning to campus for full in-person learning and I would like to help them learn through play using manipulatives. However, last year was my first year at a brand new school and my new classroom had very little manipulatives.

I believe that meaningful play is very powerful and can help my students learn and develop skills in a fun way.

The manipulatives that I am requesting will help students build eye-hand coordination, allow students to use their imagination as they create and construct objects, and encourage students to think like an engineer.
