This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kindergarten is a special time in a child’s life and can be a shift in the way children are expected to learn and behave. I want to provide the most developmentally appropriate setting to make this transition easier. A positive transition to kindergarten has been associated with greater frustration tolerance, better social skills, fewer conduct problems, fewer learning problems, and more positive approaches to learning.

My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions!

They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions!

My Project

The block and home center are two key areas in our classroom and adding more manipulatives will help incorporate more math concepts. Realistic animals will help students explore science, to extend our living things science study. Adding pretend food that shows various food groups will help teach students about healthy nutrition.

Through play, I can help support the development of social-emotional skills, as well as work on academics in authentic ways as they come up naturally.

I am working to further enhance the classroom environment to help enhance our work areas that integrate play-based learning and engage their natural curiosity.
