This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students qualify for a special education preschool program, and their ages range from 2-5 years old. They each have a diagnosed disability including developmental delayed, autism and speech language impairment. My students love to paint and play in centers with their peers. They love dramatic play and learning about numbers and alphabets.
Due to their disabilities my students attend a full-day program and each student has an IEP.
Our school is a Title I school and every child receives free, or reduced lunch.
My Project
Play is a very important part of early childhood development. My students need newborn dolls, the push-button telephones, the cleaning set and a Doctor's office kit to help with their dramatic play skills. Many of my students have an autism diagnosis and the soft and washable sensory balls and gel-bead sensory shapes will help with their sensory needs in the classroom. My students will use the newborn doll clothes to practice dressing skills and to work on their fine motor skills. The create-a-burger sequencing stacking and paint brushes will be used to help my students with following directions and their fine motor skills.
