My students need a tabletop light box, blocks, big-knob puzzles, eating assistant utensils, dramatic play outfits, jumbo paint brushes and crayons, fine-motor-assist springboard scissors, jumbo letters and numbers, math counters, and emotion identification games and tools.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a public Pre-K special education self-contained classroom with some amazing kiddos! They love to listen to stories, sing songs, and play in our dramatic play area!
Our current classroom was a former Kindergarten classroom so we are greatly in need of Pre-K appropriate AND special education based materials.
We are currently hoping for knob-pull puzzles, fine motor toys, fine motor development scissors, paint brushes, crayons, and developing eating utensils. I am a fifth-year teacher but first-year public school teacher and unfortunately am not financially able to buy my sweet students everything that they need, as I don't have much that's my own so far!
Every little bit helps, I greatly appreciate you taking the time to read about us!
My Project
My students are young, some having their first school experience, and all have a variety of special needs. These tools will help me provide meaningful play experiences and social-emotional learning for my students who require specifically made assisted tools to be able to physically engage in the work of play!
Some of my students have profound physical needs, which makes play difficult when they do not have access to toys that they are able to grip, pick up, and move with independently.
Products such as fine motor-assist scissors, eating assist utensils, finger crayons, light table, and jumbo paint brushes will give these students access to the types of play experiences that are proven to develop social-emotional and cognitive skills.
