This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Play is the highest form of research." ~ Albert Einstein. Playing is the most important time of the preschool day. Playing is also an important part of children's learning and development. Through play, students discover new ideas, and build perseverance while learning to solve problems.
I have been teaching for 21 years in a low socioeconomic area of Southern California.
Our school is a Title I school and all the students receive free lunch, meaning that these families are living at or below the poverty line. There are many living arrangements and family structures in my class. Most students are learning English as a second language. Even when they are faced with many challenges both at home and at school, my students are always enthusiastic and eager to learn.
My students are hungry for knowledge that will get them ready for college. They are scholars who understand the importance of hard work and to try their best to meet their goals. Parents want to give their children the best education possible and they rely a lot on our school and our teachers.
My Project
The resources will allow my students to learn many necessary skills through play. Every day my students create a world built upon their imagination and where possibilities are endless. The train set and the traffic signs will enhance our "Transportation Unit". In this unit, students will learn different kind of signs around their surrounding. They can also make connection when they are in the car traveling with their family.
The P.E. equipment will ensure that my students will be more active outside and the organized games will be used multiple times a day, by all of the preschool students. We have very limited resources to fulfill our physical education time. These new materials would help the teachers implement more physical education activities throughout the school day. These materials would encourage students to become more self motivated to choose activities that foster physical fitness during their free choice time.
By donating to this project you will give my students the opportunity to be more active and participate in an activities that they enjoy at school.
The train set will encourage imagination that will foster creativity and the equipment would encourage students to become more self motivated to choose activities that foster physical fitness. Exercise is so important because it stimulates brain activity. In addition, playing fosters cognitive, physical, social and literacy skills.
