Learning Through Play in Pre-K 2

Help me give my students dramatic play dress-up costumes that are multicultural and represent community helpers, these costumes will enable my students to use their imaginations and learn through role playing.

My Students

Pre-kindergarten is an exciting time where children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. They acquire many new skills, as well as build upon prior knowledge. I teach an amazing group of Pre-K students. They are energetic, curious, kind, and eager to learn. We are an urban Title 1 School, and all of our students receive free school lunch and breakfast. Also, in order to qualify for our program they must meet certain income guidelines. Even though we are faced with challenges, my students come to school every day ready and excited to learn. By supporting our class you are helping to create students who will develop a lifelong love of learning.

My Project

Young children learn through play and the natural desire to explore the world around them. It is very important that in the Pre-K classroom children have access to high quality materials in highly engaging learning experiences and centers. The toys in this project such as, the wooden mixer and the party cake will enable my students to go through the stages of making a birthday cake and presenting the cake to the birthday boy or girl, which they will love. The dress-up costumes will enable them to use their imaginations and become the person that they are dressed up as such as firefighter. The puppet theater will allow the students to retell a story that is familiar to them such as, “The Three Little Bears” or they can create their own story for their classmates with the puppets.

The items in this project will give the children a chance to develop social and cognitive skills while have fun.

The children will be so excited to explore these toys and play. By supporting my students you are supporting our future leaders.
