This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 18 eager and energetic students love to sing and play everyday! My school is located in the Bronx, where most of them receive free meals. Most of them are second language learners and need to develop their oral language and social skills.
They show a natural passion for music, rhymes, and finger plays, allowing them to explore new sounds and creativity.
Additionally, they love to take part in outdoor and indoor activities by using their bodies and energy to learn.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting for my class will be used on a daily basis. Children naturally love music, this CD player will give them an opportunity to continue to gain new language and social skills. Moreover, through music the students will also learn literary, math, science concepts in a enjoyable way.
The music component is used from the beginning of the day until dismissal.
The outdoor-indoor and parachute materials will be used everyday because it will help the students to strengthen their gross muscles through play. It will also allow them to develop their hand and eye coordination by playing with the variety of materials.
In addition, it will also help to train their listening skills and learn to work cooperatively. The benefits the students will gain are innumerable but valuable to help them grow. Music and movement go hand in hand and all these materials will change their lives.
