My students need a variety of books in our classroom library to develop of love of reading. The books I have selected for this project are just a start!
I teach third graders who work hard to become the leaders of the future We set goals, we strive together to learn and grow, and we meet our goals. Our class represents a diverse range of learners with a variety of needs, with more than half of the students coming from low-income families.
My incredible third graders work together to learn and grow as they make the transition to third grade.
We are eager to learn through a variety of learning experiences, resources, and exposure to great books. I want to give my students the chance to have have exposure to new places, cultures, and ideas, through books that are engaging as well as culturally responsive.
My Project
As a military spouse, I have moved several times in my career. I always like to "pay it forward" to the person coming into the classroom behind me. I left a great deal of my classroom library in my previous classroom and moved into a classroom with no books! I want to give my current third graders the same learning opportunities, and access to engaging stories.
My amazing third graders need exposure to a variety of books that meet their interests, reading levels, and help them to develop a love of reading.
In our classroom, we read independently every day. In order to build and develop stamina for this, students need to be able to choose a book that is "just right" for them. A just right book captures their interest and can be read without too many difficulties. My current selection of books does not have enough options to be able to provide a "just right" book for everyone.
Finding these books is the key to unlocking lifelong readers.
