Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year I am working in a special education support room for students grad 3-5. It is in an urban setting.
The students I work with are pulled from their classroom into a separate classroom for most if not all of the day. They are far behind their peers in being able to read a book. Due to this they become easily frustrated when asked to read. My students have shown me this year their love for listening to stories. I hope to use there love for listening to help them read.
I have chosen numerous different level audiobooks. These particular audiobooks were ones that connected across curriculums. I have chosen some for my older students that will captivate their interest and help them with comprehension and fluency. The other audiobooks I chose were ones I felt would really help the younger students, with their phonemic awareness, rhyming, fluency, idioms, and be interesting.
Your help will ensure that my students will build a confidence level in their reading that will give them self confidence in life as a whole. They will become stronger readers and writers. Along with that it will help them to meet their goals and objectives on their IEP's (Individualized Education Plans). Your support would be greatly appreciated by all of my students.
