Learning Through LEGO

Help me give my students a hands-on learning experience through LEGO blocks. They learn so much better when they have the correct materials they need to get their hands on.

My Students

Our students have Autism and Intellectual Disability along with Speech and Language needs and Occupational Therapy. They come from all different areas of the city and our school qualifies for free lunch.

Despite incredible challenges the students disabilities present each student, they are ALL filled with the LOVE TO LEARN.

The students communicate in a variety of ways. Some of our are non-verbal and use a device to communicate. Some students can communicate simply by talking. All of our students have the ability to succeed with the right tools.

My Project

Our students learn in a variety of ways. The more experience I have as a special education teacher the more I see that my students will meet the high expectations we have for them. Students begin their learning experience in our classroom in the sixth grade. They graduate successful, independent eighth graders.

Students in the Autistic Support Classroom at Houston Elementary School are the BEST in the CITY!

They DESERVE access to any materials that could make a difference in their lives.

We are always very proud of the hard work our students display on a daily basis. With these tools we will be able develop stronger language skills and discuss emotions. We are so grateful for any contributions.
