My Students

Technology is important to our future, but 9 of my students don't have computers at home. This inequity makes school difficult for students who do not have the benefits of technology. My dream is to have several Netbooks that students can use at school and check out to complete their work at home.

I have a class of fantastic fourth graders!

Our school is classified as one of "moderate poverty," but several students in my class are very poor. These students do not have the same rich experiences with technology as middle and upper class students have. This puts these students at yet another disadvantage as they compete with students who experience computers every day.

My Project

I am requesting two Netbooks that will be shared by the students in my classroom. Our curriculum asks us to use technology quite often, but our school has only 1 computer lab that over 700 students share. This shortage severely limits the amount of time students get to learn to type through our keyboarding program, use computers to play math and spelling games, and take advantage of programs that help kids learn to read. Having more computers in the classroom will engage students in their learning and help them become even smarter.

Your donation will give these students and their families a chance to equal access to technology.

It's important (and becoming more expected) for students to know how to use a computer well. Let's give everyone an opportunity to access technology!
