Do you remember your first chemistry kit? I do, I was eight years old and I could hardly wait to mix the various crystals and see what would happen.
My students experience the same excitement when they walk into the lab and see that I have an activity planned for the day.
They are high school chemistry students and biology students in rural south Mississippi where resources for lab equipment are virtually unavailable.
My Project
Just as I could hardly wait to open that chemistry kit, my students are eager to learn through hands-on experiences. I enjoy teaching them when they are excited and by having these basic laboratory supplies like beakers, syringes, and a periodic table, we can learn on a deeper level through laboratory activities.
This project is vital to our classroom environment because we need these basic supplies to perform a wealth of activities.
Having this material would allow us to perform exciting activities for many years to come!
