My Students

I have a wonderful class this year! They are working very hard each day and learning lots of new things! They are very kind and thoughtful. They are big helpers and come into my classroom with smiles every day! All of my students love life and learning! They are so excited about what this new year has in store for them. I have used Scholastic News in the past and know they would enjoy reading these magazines! They have a lot to learn and these news articles would help!

My Project

Short texts are a classroom staple for shared reading and strategy lessons. But all too often, we need to turn to reading anthologies, "close read" workbooks, or test prep materials to find paired down texts for mini lessons and evidence-based discussions. Plus, since these short texts are not crafted with multiple-choice questions in mind, they are better written.

For some of my most reluctant readers, even the slimmest book can be daunting.

A glossy magazine is often more tempting with a lot of visual support and low pressure short articles. There's a renewed interest in reading each month when I pick up the new magazines from my mailbox and share them with my students.
