This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are eager to learn and excited about Science. They enjoy learning in a hands-on environment and excel in these situations as well.
My students are inner city kids, many of whom lack interactions with the natural outside world such as gardening and being able to enjoy nature.
Though my students lack these opportunities they are eager to learn while outside and often times their attention increases while learning outside.
My Project
We have an outdoor classroom, that unfortunately is not used to the best of its ability do to lack of supplies. My students love to learn outside and in the natural world. Having materials from this EcoKit will allow me to take my students outside to learn about pollinators as well as other naturally occurring events while outside.
Donations to this project will allow many students to garden for the first time ever!
They will dig, plant, cultivate, weed, and care for plants because of this curriculum kit. Having these opportunities may not be presented to my students again as many do not have yards or the means to do this.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
