This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These dramatic play materials will enhance the fun outdoor learning environment that I seek to create throughout the day with our young students. Our outdoor classroom is an extension of our indoor learning environment and is a place where our students should have an opportunity to engage socially with their peers, develop gross motor and expand their expressive language through play. The toys in our indoor and outdoor environment are selected with my students in mind and how each of these materials can increase our students' learning objectives.

With these new dramatic play materials, my students will be able to choose from a variety of toys that interest them while at the same time learning through play.

They will have a choice to select giant linking shapes or activity rings that will be introducing them to math skills like sorting, patterning, and sequencing or they will be able to select a Gas n Go lawnmower that will strengthen their gross motor skills. Other choices include materials that would enhance our dramatic play area such as a pretend birthday cake and a toaster play set where my students could learn about cause and effect, develop expressive and receptive language skills, and mature their social skills. This project will help enrich their daily experiences at school through play.
