My multicultural classroom is full of young children whose minds want and need to be stimulated. My children are eager learners who have a strong drive to learn everything about the world around them. I love providing them with opportunities to grow their learning and encourage them to be life long learners. The children enjoy learning opportunities including STEM, language arts, and creative arts. They enjoy learning new social-emotional skills and love to practice the taught skills with each other and their families.
The majority of the children in the school, including my classroom, come from low-income families, where they are dual language learners, many who are the first in their families to learn the English language.
The children in my classroom have a strong will to become successful students, and I want to be able to provide them with the supplies they need in order to set them up for success.
My Project
Preschoolers explore the world through being able to experience first hand the world around them. The Dramatic Play area in our classroom is the perfect place for young children to explore a world that oftentimes, parents are hesitant for young children to explore in their own homes for various safety reasons. Children are able to explore the Dramatic Play area in my classroom without fear of getting hurt. Depending what the children are interested in, I set up the dramatic play area for them to explore a variety of different places that encourage Social Studies exploration. In the past, the children have explored a doctor’s office, a veterinarian’s office, a grocery store, a farm, and many other places related to the world around them. Now, I am asking for dolls and furniture for our Dramatic Play Area so students can explore "home and family".
With the way that things are currently with COVID 19, there are things that I currently cannot put out for the children to utilize so I am requesting these items so that my children have things that they can still use safely and that can be cleaned easily to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID.
