Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My sixth-grade students are determined, full of energy, creative, and bright. Throughout my years of teaching sixth grade, I have continued to notice that my students absolutely love hands-on activities and technology. Their motivation to learn and jump into an activity increases if they are working with other students, myself, or hands-on materials. When lessons are engaging, they are up for a challenge and take chances. By the end of the year, not only are they growing and gaining confidence, but they are teaching me something new and helping me grow as a teacher.
Many students have difficulties finding supplies to bring to school or keep at home so they are able to complete assignments/projects at home.
Although some of my students struggle to get materials, many still come with a smile on their face and excited to learn. I truly love watching my students grow each and every day they are with me.
My Project
Many of my students enjoy taking notes and completing assignments that are hands-on and engaging. Through visuals and color, students pay more attention to the skill that is being taught rather than if they were copying words from a text into their notebooks. With determined sixth graders, I want to allow my students to be creative when learning in the classroom.
The Crayola crayons, markers, and colored pencils will allow my students to get creative and make learning colorful when working in their interactive notebooks.
Chart paper markers will allow students to have visuals around the classroom. When it comes to editing and revising peer work, red pens are an easy way for students to easily visualize feedback and edits in their work.
A classroom should be a place where students are eager to go and learn. It should be colorful, cozy, and creative. It should show how bright the future is for every student that enters.
