Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This is a joint project for Mrs. Hughes and Ms. Vanak. We teach 9th and 10th grade World History and Civic, respectively. Our students are preparing for the workforce as they attend a trade school. Since we teach on the academic side, our students sometimes become disinterested in these subjects. We try to make history more exciting by breaking away from traditional methods of teaching and using creative hands on projects to allow our students to create visuals to help them. This project will help our students to organize themselves and to get creative with their learning. The folders will allow us to teach our students organization skills imperative in their trades. It will allow them to create visuals of the content they are learning and open their minds to imaginative and collaborative thinking! Many of our students are very visual and hands on learners. Having pencils, markers and glue sticks are necessary to be able to create visuals will allow our students to learn key concepts and make strong connections with history and our lives today.
