My students need the keys to success by working on Chromebooks in the classroom.

My student's attend a Title 1 school in a low income area which isn't known for being the prettiest, or for having a lot of technology. From the outside looking in the future can appear bleak, but I'm fortunate enough to teach in a military town with a variety of students and get to see first hand just how bright and talented the future of our great country really is.
I'm inspired daily by a classroom of smiling and eager faces who against all odds continue to pursue knowledge and work tirelessly to be better than they were the day before.
These children possess the raw talent that is needed to be competitive in today's fast pace world. They come in ready to learn and surpass all standards.
Some people don't believe computers are needed in a math class. People also don't realize how much paper is used in a classroom that could be saved, computers are the future! My students have to take their state standardized test on the computer and do not get enough time or have the experience needed to succeed. They struggle with typing along with basic computer skills. Long gone are the days of picking a letter answer (a, b, or c) and clicking next. Now my students must explain how they get the correct math answer, so time spent per question is crucial. I see to often they're spending more time trying to find the correct key than trying to solve the problem. These Chromebooks will help build my students computer skills and save paper. This project will help them become more familiar with a computer, improve typing skills and their ability to answer today's demanding math problems on the computer.
If I go paperless one day a week in the classroom we will save 2,500 pages in one year.
Not only will the Chromebooks give my students the necessary practice to take their test, it will also save the environment.
