My Students

Have you ever opened a nonfiction book and been taken to another world? My students have not had the opportunities to get whisked away by pictures and words.

My students and I are at a Title 1, community school in Oklahoma.

Many students come from low income families and are English Language Learners. All of my students are engaged learners. They love to be at school with friends to learn and play. My students and I are constantly wondering about different things. They love to ask questions during reading, and we find the answers together.

My Project

I would like my students to pick up one of these new books and become amazed at the vast information within them. They will be able to uncover new worlds and cultures. They will be able to share with other students the wonderful information within the books! That is my favorite part about seeing them read. They say, "Wow! Cool!" and then get up to share with a reading partner.

I believe my students will become more mature with these books.

They will get to learn about many different cultures. They will be given information that not many students find out until later grades. And the best part about these books, my students will want to learn and share them with each other.
