Help me give my students the art opportunities they deserve with quality supplies to create.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Nixon's classroom raised $363
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We will provide students a series of four classes to learn about and create an art form of their choice. Each staff member at our school will host a class. Funding this project means 132 Kindergarten and First Grade students will have the chance to learn about and create an art form of their choosing. Students will engage in hands-on, experiential learning as they learn about various artists, art forms, and integrated academics.
At HBS Elementary we develop equitable outcomes for students by infusing art in all learning - supporting students in deepening their understanding of academic concepts.
Our school is unique in offering an innovative arts program that provides equity in access to arts education. We are committed to broadening our students access to opportunities to build on community strengths and interrupt inequality.
Often, schools with the most robust art offerings have families with the most means, and arts education is supported by families and community members. Our program is different because our school is situated in an area of the city, county, and state with a LOW equity index based on 32 indicators in the areas of: accessibility, economy, education, livability, and environmental health.
This project builds community by providing students the opportunity to grow by learning from adults, and alongside peers, that they don’t normally interact with. The opportunity to access arts programming strengthens community ties, encourages creativity, builds cultural competencies of students, promotes empathy, and improves individual well-being.
Your support elevates the offerings we can provide for students on a long-term basis. Funding these projects will help students continue to access high quality arts infused instruction in today’s world of budget cuts and inflation. Help us continue to support our students’ development and access. Donors like you make this work happen in our community.
