Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are really special. They come from all over the world and many are new to the US and they come with a lot of challenges, both financial and emotional stress. Most of my students are new to American culture. My students all eat free breakfast and lunch at school, but they are still hungry! Luckily our cafeteria food has been getting better each year.
My students are happy and eager to try new to them healthy food.
They are learning now about nutrition and they know how healthy food makes them feel good and do their best learning! We take in baskets of apples and carrots all day when there are leftovers in the cafeteria, but the kids are still hungry!
These snacks will last us a few months and will provide care, support, and joy to my class. The water kettle will allow me to prepare ramen soup for them, and hot chocolate. We already have class sets of bowls and cups thanks to Donorschoose supporters like you from last year!
These snacks also support the dietary needs of my students. Many are halal and many want to eat some protein snacks! Thank you for helping me support my students and also for helping me educate students on how to eat right to support their education and development!
My students ate progressing so well in learning yo read, write, and attack math problems. I attribute this to the fact that they are not hungry and therefore distracted!
