Learning Takes Flight With Butterflies

Help me give my students a butterfly garden and butterfly accessories for an up-close lesson on the life cycle of a butterfly! Students will be able to watch caterpillars grow and document their observations like real scientists!

My Project

I have the best first-graders around! My students love to learn and thrive whenever we can do hands-on learning. They are a kind group and always do their best.

Watching butterflies go through their life cycles will help cement in my students that a cycle is never-ending.

Students will document the caterpillars at a learning station every day, just like real scientists do. This will help them learn the scientific method and teach them to ask questions about our environment. I want to encourage my students' curiosity about the world and this is one way to help foster that.

The books will help students visualize what they are going to be learning. Again, like scientists, we have to do research before we do an experiment. This will help to build background knowledge for their observations.
