Help me give my students an engaging Spanish curriculum. Our textbooks were published over twenty years ago and a lot of the information is no longer relevant. They still talk about answering machines and renting video cassettes!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are mostly freshmen and sophomores. They are a tough audience and they keep me on my feet. I strive to make their learning experience engaging and productive. My teen students are attached to their digital devices and to engage them they demand quality instruction. I take on this challenge every day with gratitude and a lot of energy.
Our school is a melting pot of races, religions, and identities that make our campus vibrantly diverse.
Students at my high school bring knowledge that reflects the whole world and all walks of life.
What do they all have in common? A desire to succeed. A hunger for learning. The light of hope and opportunity shining in their eyes.
My Project
I want my students to get excited about Spanish class. Right now, I am working very hard to engage them and bring to life our very old textbook. Students cannot relate to the characters in our textbooks or the daily lives they portray. The world has changed too much since the textbook was published in the late 1990s. The Scholastic Language Magazines have up-to-date content that is relevant to my high school students. They are paired with high-quality videos and high-interest activities that my students will enjoy. Help me make Spanish class their favorite class!
