Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are outgoing and eager to learn new things every day. Students are learning English and Spanish as part of the Dual Language Program. My students are a mixed of English speakers and non English speakers. Students enter the classroom with bright smiles highlighting their excitement and anticipation for the hands-on learning experiences that awaits them.
All students receive free breakfast and/or lunch.
We are a proactive school with several before and after-school tutoring and community outreach programs. Our students' families struggle financially, but everyone is dedicated to helping our parents provide for their children.
The educators and support staff are amazing in their dedication and determination to make a difference in the lives of our students. Our goal is to give each student the very best education and the best support possible at all times. We have many students entering our Orlando classroom who have been disabled due to Hurricane Irma and Maria. These students are new to the English language, and we need materials to support their learning. As they come, we will not fail in our mission to embrace them with open arms and our students share our same vision.
My Project
These Spanish books will help my students to learn a new language. Students are exposed more to English than to Spanish. Everything around them is in English, for example programs in the tv, music, names of restaurants, etc. Having Spanish books in my classroom, will be helpful for the students.
Students will make a better connection with what are they learning when teacher reads the Spanish story.
The story, the illustrations will help them to learn new words and get a better understanding. My goal as a VPK teacher is to help them to understand, talk and write in Spanish. I know that getting all of these books will help students to learn Spanish as part of the Dual language Program.
