My Students
My students are eager readers and love social studies. A typical day in my classroom includes diving into maps, historical ideas and perspectives. I encourage my students to learn history from knowing others' stories.
My students are a diverse community of learners.
Many of them come from other countries and learning English. Eager to learn and absorb information, my students push themselves to get the most out of their education. Our school is very large. Our classrooms are overcrowded. Resources are difficult to obtain.
My Project
Social studies is not just taught through a text book in my classroom. I teach it through meeting new characters, discovering a new setting and experiencing success and hardships. Read aloud time. It is the one time in our day where we can be transported to another place and time. These read aloud books will help my students to understand our units in social studies with greater clarity.
Your donation will allow my students to have a read aloud book in their hands.
We will be able to use the books for projects and discussions. My students will be able to take these books home to assist them in developing their reading skills.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
