Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are adorable children, who range from age 3 to age 6. They have a wide range of disabilities from Autism to Down Syndrome to Health Impairments that make it a struggle for them to be in a regular class.
My students are creative, diverse, inquisitive, and clever.
My students love to explore the world around them. They grow and learn more every single day and are always surprising me with their growth, emotionally, socially, and academically.
Since my students are special ed students, they suffer many different hardships. They have trouble communicating and expressing themselves. Despite this, however, my students do their best every single day and never let their hardships bring them down, and they come to school every single day with a huge smile on their faces, and they cannot wait to learn and explore the world around them. Their potential is endless, and I want to give them everything they need to help them achieve that.
My Project
My students needs toys and sensory items that will help them learn through play. They need a trampoline to help them get out their energy and to help them learn gross motor skills, and bucket chairs and sensory items to help them sit and teach them to focus. My students need art supplies to help them learn to write and express themselves through different mediums. The Mr. Sketch Markers are scented, which helps my students with their sensory needs, and the paint dabbers help my students to express themselves and are easy for them grip and help them with fine motor skills. The sand and water table is a great way for my students to explore their environment and learn the basics of science. The kitchen and Little People play-sets will help my students learn social skills and teach them how to share with others. The dress up clothes and doctor's kit will help them learn to role-play and help them to imitate and extend the things that they learn in class.
Imagination is vital for the development of students.
The toys and sensory items will help my students in so many ways. They will aid my students in developing appropriate social skills, and learning early vocational skills, which are vital to help them succeed in life. They will also help my students learn how to be individuals and creative life-long thinkers. These items will completely enhance our classroom and give my students all sorts of new opportunities to learn about the world around them in unique ways.
