My Students

My classroom includes students that focus on building their social and emotional skills to support their success in life. My students are great examples of neurodiversity and continue to surprise me with their unique interpretations of the world around them. They benefit from differentiation in the classroom to best access the curriculum provided. They are exceptionally creative in many aspects, such as art and creative writing. My students enjoy working together with their peers and teachers to develop projects, such as coding or crafting. They greatly enjoy use of technology in the classroom to extend their learning. I give many options for them to show me their deeper understanding and application of what they know through a variety of formats. Also, their learning styles all vary and that keeps me on my toes as their teacher. While some students prefer auditory learning, others benefit from visual or kinesthetic learning by watching a video or moving around to deepen their understanding.

My Project

The materials will make a huge difference in my students' learning in and outside of the classroom. For example, it would be really helpful for students to have whiteboards to show me what they are brainstorming at home during remote learning days. I find this is really helpful to continue developing their fine motor skills! My students enjoy showing me what they have learned in a variety of ways, such as through art or audio recordings. These materials will give them access to demonstrating their comprehension. The students in my class receive support for all academic areas and any materials to help them achieve access are exceptionally welcome!
