My Project

I work with young students who receive special education services. Many have a traumatic background, unstable housing, or were born addicted. We learn about everything from regular academic skills, to basic life skills such as how to organize your desk or how to wash your hands. The organizational items will not only help me be a more organized teacher, but also a role model as my students will learn how to find tools that they need to help them learn and grow as tiny humans.

As well as teaching basic life skills, I also help my students with sensory and emotional processing needs.

A lot of my students need tactile input, such as the spiky balls, to help them focus and regulate and calm down when they are having big feelings that they do not quite understand. Mr. Sketch markers are also a great way to introduce deep breathing strategies as well as making art!
