This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Ever wonder how to make learning fun and exciting for underprivileged kids? Ever wanted to spark interest and inspire kids to learn science? Well, here's the opportunity of your life. You can help kids from low performing schools enjoy learning and receive quality hands-on learning opportunities. I am a second grade multiple subject teacher that is looking for someone that would help me inspire my students that live in a high-need community.

These children are eager to learn and are ready for school the minute they walk into the classroom. The circumstances that they live in are difficult yet they are here and ready to learn. What keeps us from succeeding is the lack of materials to teach them. I really want to engage them and make learning fun. I am so tired of the boring old textbooks and would love to teach using hand-on supplies instead. My kids enjoy science but I am held back by the fact that I cannot afford to purchase materials out of my pocket. I envision their faces and curiosity created by using hands-on materials to encourage their interest further.

I really need some science learning kits that include all of the materials for hands-on science experiments and inquiries. These kits would not only facilitate the student comprehension of science concepts but also make it fun. Students from this community are so deprived and underexposed to science concepts. They go home and lock the doors or stay out in the street because no one is home. I want to provide them with a place where they have a variety of materials that help them discover the magic and wonders of science. Science is a tool to getting them interested in Math and Science jobs of the future. Lower income students are so underrepresented in these fields. If I could encourage my current students and future students to learn science because it's fun I would be changing their future and sparkling an interest in the field of science.

I know that with your generosity and support my students will gain a wonderful opportunity to learn science in a new way. Please give my students an opportunity to gain new and exciting knowledge through hands-on discoveries of science concepts. I am ready to let the journey begin. I hope you are ready to help us with our journey towards the future of science. You would be so proud to be the person responsible for sharing knowledge. The difference between learning with textbooks only and a few materials to having actual kits to teach science concepts is incredible and it's all in your hands.
